Does it get any more “chutzpah” than launching an online course about “chutzpah?”

Such is the subject of “The Art of Chutzpah” — a new online course about “the good side of chutzpah.”

“Chutzpah can have a negative connotation, and it can be used in negative ways,” says Josh Hoffman, who created the course, “but when you look at the other side of the coin, you find that people who live with more chutzpah tend to live a life of purpose, passion, and potential — and inspire others to do the same.”

The course features five modules and more than 30 lessons, with an emphasis on “soft skills” — defined by the World Economic Forum as “skills for the future,” since more than half of all people will require significant re-skilling and upskilling by 2030. The eight main soft skills within “The Art of Chutzpah” are creativity, imagination, courage, confidence, time management, productivity, resilience, and self-awareness.

Hoffman, 32 years old, is originally from Los Angeles, and visited Israel for his first time on Taglit-Birthright Israel in 2013. Halfway through the trip, his first time in Israel, he decided on a whim to stay in Israel and become an Israeli citizen, despite having no previous exposure to or experience with the country.

In 2020, after running a variety of internet businesses from his residence in Tel Aviv, he founded IZZY, a global TV streaming platform that offers unlimited Israeli movies, TV shows, and documentaries.

“Living in Israel for eight years now, I’ve come to understand that chutzpah — the good kind of chutzpah — is an integral part of what makes Israelis disproportionately successful,” says Hoffman, who recently wrote the book Reimagining Israel.

“My goal with ‘The Art of Chutzpah’ is for people who don’t live in Israel to still have access to this Israeli superpower, so they can power up their passions, maximize their inherent potential, and inspire others to do the same.”
